Yongsan on Armistice Day
It was actually a (her) signing me in.
This is somewhere up high, downhill of HBC. I hadn't drawn first camera blood before that.
I had never been this close to this iconic building before.
We don't know if stuff on the other side of those fences is returned to Korea, or just closed.
Assignment of Choice.
In the basement there used to be a Mexican restaurant called Oasis. The fence was open, maybe so people could go for a rest.
There was also this sign. Relieved we didn't end up meeting any chaplains.
This is the food court which has a Pizza Hut and a Subway. Both are prevalent throughout Korea, but I'd sort of like to try both to see if they're different.
At the convenience store, there was a Jolly Rancher Slush machine.
Inside the front entrance was this little display.
The haechis out front.
One of the best views from on post.
Here's how it looks without zoom.
There's the Japanese stockade, which my host had not known about before.
There's the gas station, with Yongsan-gu Office in the distance.
A road up to definitely closed housing.
Upon leaving through the gate, the Mondrian (formerly Capital) is really in your face.
This photo is taken in the compound across the road, where we had to go in order to get both a vehicle and me on post.
