RAS Korea Garden Party
The first picture I got was of Suzanne walking up the stairs.
Now here's a bunch of the boys.
Steve is about to give a speech, with the British ambassador behind him.
On the right is Juyoung of KOTE, and on the left is the maker of a perfume series based on historical Korean figures.
There's Brother Anthony.
Joanne rushed by and I got this very joyful-looking photo.
Then I asked her to stop for a moment for a picture.
Here's a guy I haven't seen since before the pandemic, and his son.
It wasn't as long a speech as these pictures make it seem.
Next the British ambassador spoke.
Samhae Soju won me over, at least for their cheongjus.
I had to give up drinking so I could photograph the essay contest winners.
David Mason isn't mansplaining, he's mansinsplaining
Matt models some of the food.
Annabel asked me to take their photo.
I've seen Tom frequently, but not Yeri in a few years.
There's Bae Sue-ja.
And Mr. Shim, with his pushcart that apparently has been with RAS Korea since before I was alive.
Jeremy is putting on a very strong mountain man vibe.
Peter is giving off a bit of an ambassador vibe.
Donald Kirk showed up.
Thanks to Wikipedia I know he's 85.
The Philippine ambassador showed up, and when we went to set up a picture I remarked that she would look very small next to him.
So she went up here.
Jeremy wants to bring his wife in for a picture together.
And him too.
I don't know if I understood right or if they were joking, but they said this was the first time they were getting photographed as a couple.
When I went over to the canopy, one of these girls bowed deferentially, but it was because they were kidding around about doing that. Turns out they are members of the RAS Korea Dongducheon chapter.
Suzanne starts the raffle.
She won a book about the Underwoods.
Someone said she could have a different prize if she wanted, but her dad shouted out "Daddy wants that one!"
Then a number of prizes later, her brother also won something.
Sometime later, the family won a third prize too.
Back with the Samhae Soju people.
We were approaching an hour after the party was supposed to end, and the rain was falling.
Slightly closer to how the lighting actually was.
Almost all cleared out.
