Temples

Did I just figure out the meaning of the "We've" apartment band?

I don't feel any more enlightened.

Ho Chicken, now I feel less enlightened.

A Buddha's Birthday lantern.

More of them on the fence.

This is the temple I visited last Chuseok, only to find it was still inhabited. Nothing looks different now. They had told me at that time they were waiting for a payout to move on, and thought it would take another month, but maybe not.

I decided to visit one abandoned building, with this imposing smashed front door.

Don't go forward.

The view from above.

Next I got into a much smaller abandoned temple, where I found some photos.

There's where the photos were left, on a wooden bed.

Here's the main room.

Shoes out front.

A bujeok and a Korean-language one that apparently is a Sanskrit mantra.

One floor up, here's the main altar.

I don't think it's the exposure -- this mural seemed to be intentionally a little dark.

This one is outside.

A small place for burning stuff.

Not sure what exactly these are but most were blank.

I decided to look at one of the booklets carefully.

There is a large window above to the left, and it filled the room with strong natural sunlight.

Some kind of art up on the top floor.

I feel like I find these scythes at Buddhist temples a lot.

Very curious about the meaning of this mural. Is that a heffalump?

Here's a look at the roof over the main hall.

View from the roof.

Many of the foregroudn buildings are abandoned.

Everything you see here that is not tall is abandoned.

Another look back inside at the altar.

More murals everywhere.

This lantern had an owl on the side.

Looking down at the street outside.

Here's the temple name.

The shoes out front again.

There was some discarded stuff in this hallway.

I think I used to have plates with that design back in Canada.

The calendar shows they moved out recently.

There's the Bodhidharma watching.

I went back to this room.

I decided I might as well capture every photo.

More bujeoks including the pig.

I tried capturing a wider view of this room.

In the basement was a dining hall.

These were next door.

A nice big building booger.

A somewhat deflated lantern down the alley.

Caffee.

A nice mural with a creepy noose-like rope.

I've probably posted photos of this before but I enjoy this logo's shamelessness.

A kind of retro building on a major corner on Yeouido.

The Yongsan market building being evicted.

On the way home I passed by these pink buildings.
