Airport Island

Following the Maglev tracks.

Alarming.

By the way, the Maglev is out of condition, and all the stations are closed.

They're interesting to look at.

My target is one of the buildings down there.

Looking back the way I'd come. I had always thought that tripod thing in the distance was the control tower, but it appears not.

Another station.

The doors look wide open.

The convinience store was closed.

There were weeds on the path around back.

This path was overgrown.

With garbage. Also in the upper leftish area you can see the shadow of a surveillance camera.

Looking through one of the windows.

Abandoned cups.

Around this side, there were guys working. They seemed to be dealing with parking, but they had a lot of CCTV monitors in the door on the left.

A bit overgrown.

Here's the food court.

A Korean food court that serves gna??

Here's the atrium.

Lots of plastic food.

That's where you'd order for every restaurant.

I went around to the escalators where I could view the atrium without glass in the way.

This leads to the roof.

Out on the roof. That structure vaguely resembles a control tower.

These stairs lead up into it.

It had glass elevators. One was on 1 and the other was on 4.

The sign from inside.

In that building across the street was the second Cinder Bar.

You can see the water.

Looking back toward the airport.

Overlooking the roof garden.

Some other buildings and a big empty field.

I only ever went to 6, 7, and 8.

A gutted surveillance camera.

I kept watching the elevators, because it seemed if the workers ever came after me, this would be the way. Which was good, because it might have meant my own way in and out would still serve as an escape route.

I suspect other floors were this dull.

Back to the plastic food.

It must not have been open for long.

I wonder if all the restaurants were ever even open.

Here's a look at the menu.

And from the other side.

That looked sort of like a stage.

A cafe.

A Jongno Bindaetteok restaurant.

Overlooking Cinder Bar.

The menu. Overall the prices seem pret\ty good.

The cafe emtrance.

Another look at the atrium.

More elevators.

While looking for my exit, I got a little turned around and found this.

I got out and took some pictures of the surroundings. A Best Western hotel.

And this appears to be Paradise City, which looks a lot more underwhelming than I was expecting.

Stepping over roof damage.

The map of the area was not very informative.

Temporarily closed.

This must be pretty old looking at how they spell Incheon.

The empty field. That's a lot of lawn.

The next station was also closed, but you could see the word.

Back to the airport parking.

Inside that thing is where I catch the train.

There were ads promoting Incheon as 2025 APEC host, but it seemed like a kick in the face for Gyeongju to also promote its bid here.

Heading down to the AREX tracks.

I did want to step on it.

Looking back the other direction.
