The morning
I can't remember when I took these photos. My best guess is they were on Saturday morning when Jung was at work. Millie was being particularly cute. I originally brought out my camera because she was watching TV, but my camera is more interesting than anything on TV for her.

I've decided to enter Millie on Kitten War. So far she's doing well, sitting at a 70% victory rate. Not bad considering the top kittens aren't above 75%.

It's strange looking at that picture now because Millie's already a very different cat. For one thing, she doesn't sleep like that anymore (though us not having a recliner might have something to do with that). Now she prefers sleeping on Jung's chest.

And have a look at this cat, who looks almost exactly like Millie, including the one mitten. It almost seems like someone stole Millie for a day, took this picture, and renamed her Pepper. It's especially odd considering Pepper was one of Jung's favourite picks for Millie's name (actually Hoochoo Ganhosa, but part of it translates to Pepper).

Sunday
I took these photos a while ago, but they got preempted by the 100 days birthday celebration. They're just from a weekend, and have pretty much the usual. Millie went to the roof and explored the windowsill.

100 Days
It's hard to describe this, but Koreans like to celebrate the 100-day anniversary of a lot of things. In Korea there is a tradition that on a baby's first birthday they have this party, where the baby is presented a selection of items and allowed to choose one. Whichever item the baby picks predicts the life ahead for the baby. Common items include money, pens, brushes, food, and that sort of thing. We decided to hold a similar party for Millie. The human birthday is after one year, but we decided to do it now because she'll be an adult by then. So come take a look and see what she chose.

More Cat Pictures
One day I took a lot of videos of Millie running around, being cute, and attacking the camera. I've scraped all the pictures together from that night, as well as a few from last night, for this gallery.

Also, Millie meets her potential suitor back in Canada.

Nap from Four Perspectives
Whenever I'm at home at night I need my camera close to me in case Millie starts doing something cute. Here's an example of what a little preparedness can get you.

One night she was lying on her back like this and I scrambled to take this picture. I set the beer down next to her, and she immediately started sniffing it, fascinated with the thing. I will get a photo like this someday.

Googling "cat beer" is fun. Here are some of the best discoveries:

  • Young's Old Nick
  • Cat beer glass
  • Cat beer
  • In a world ruled by cats, I´m sure they would invent a beer like this.
  • Beer gut

By the way, beer is toxic to cats.

Jung's mom has registered on my website, so every few days she will post a sample of her writing for me to proofread. Here's something she wrote about her sister, who never married and is obsessed with her pet dog Nuri. Keep in mind while you read this that she knows I'm the one who reads it.

My sister loves a pet dog. The Chihuahua's name is Nuri. Nuri has small body, beautiful eyes, and cute face that looks like a baby. Her gray hair is short and silky. When Nuri came to my sister, she was small just as a mug cup. Though she grew up for three years, now she is not also bigger than her master's cap. She is very cute and very clever. I never seen a cute animal such the dog. When my children were young, we had seen three new born lions in Kwachon Grand Park. How cute They were! By the way Nuri is more cute than the baby lion. But I don't like a pet. Not only a pet but pet's master has strange smell. Bathing, haircut, excreta care ... etc are the troublesome for me. Actually I oppose a pet. I can't understand the people who have a pet. If they really love an animal, they have to make them free. All animal have a right to live theirselves in the nature. A man have no right to put them into a limit area. They have to live in their space. They never been a commodity. Please release your pet. Loving a pet just only is a human eoism.
Thanks, but I don't think Millie would last one night on the streets of Seoul.

    Work
I'm at work right now and nobody's really working. It snowed and our boss isn't here and Jungim is going to be leaving soon, which means I'll be the employee who's been here the longest. Also, I don't have any pictures of Hyejin or Chanwoo, the two new employees.

Here's a panorama I took when they brought me to a seundae restaurant last Friday. I didn't like the intestines but the restaurant was interesting enough.

    Millie
We've now been cat owners for over a week. Millie doesn't like being left alone and I think it's made her a little more aloof to us. She never sleeps directly with us, but if we're sleeping on the couch she sleeps on the back of the couch next to us. If we're in the bed, she's probably sleeping half a meter underneath us. She's also started to climb, which has resulted in Jung taking this blue thing down after she caught Millie trying to chew through the top string holding it up.
