We got home in time to celebrate the new year with the cats.

Heading Home
To get home, we caught a ferry from Okpo to Busan, and then took a slow train all the way home. The train seats were uncomfortable, but for the last couple hours of the trip we sat in the dining car and drank. That's how I'd have to travel if I ever take the slow train again.

POW Camp
On our final morning we went to Geoje City to see the POW camp, a museum documenting the massive POW camp that was built here during the Korean War. We had a limited amount of time so we looked through it fast. It took just an hour to walk through and get a good look at everything, skipping anything that required reading or watching a screen. Plus we met these perverted high school girls.

Gujora
We wanted to go somewhere to see the sunset, but there wasn't enough time and we were on the wrong side of the island, so we studied a map which showed a small peninsula jutting out of the east coast where we could look west to see the sunset. We got to this small town and climbed as high as we could to see the sunset.

To Geoje
After we were done with family things, it was time to get down to Geoje. We had missed the last ferry from Busan, so the only other way was to get to Daegu and catch two buses down.

Visiting Jung's Grandmother
Jung's grandmother was buried in her original hometown, a tiny place somewhere in Gyungsang Province. Most of the family showed up to commemorate the 45-day anniversary of her death, or something like that. I missed the actual burial so this time I had to come along. Also, it was the first time for Jung's brother and his wife to visit the grave. After that, we went to a Buddhist temple for more rituals.

Bye Cats
The cats didn't know it but this was our last night with them until December 31. Also, I got a picture of the three cats together that live near our home. They seem to be getting along really well.

Dishwasher
Millie decided that to become an adult cat, she needed to get a job. However, since she was afraid to go outside, she had to get a job here, so she decided to be our dishwasher.

Donginmoon
Now that we know Dongdaemoon is walking distance from home, we couldn't help making the journey.

Strays
Recently the two cats living in our neighbourhood accepted a smaller third cat into their little group. This one is smaller than them, and they seem to get along well.

Ape with Pipe
Don't worry, Brendan's not typing my shoe. I lent my camera to his daughter Zoe to see what she could photograph.
We all met up on Sunday at Ape with Pipe, a Mediterranean restaurant on the corner of Itaewon that is run by our friend Leo. Pretty exotic food, a lot of beer, and plenty of interesting people to talk to. I had a very engaging conversation with a guy who's worked on animation for King of the Hill and the first season of Family Guy. Wow, first time I ever met someone and used IMDB to find out more about them.

Upside-down Cat
I always tell my cats to obey the laws of gravity, but Millie always likes lying upside down.

We went out for supper in this restaurant, which seems to have become our favourite restaurant within walking distance.
