Yongsan Disaster Unintentional Memorial


The Yongsan Disaster happened right behind the big tree to the center right.

In fact, that tree was there during the fire.

A sensible addition, maybe.

Here's a look at the installation. It's clearly supposed to be a tulip, but additionally reminds me of fire, and some sort of jet engine component.

Here it is obscuring where Namildang stood.

A closer look. As I was photographing it, a construction worker started yelling at me.

That lawn is right where Namildang used to be and the lines here have no bearing on the previous urban fabric.

This is one of the best examples of a building shadow.
