Purple City: Hydracat

Hydracat was the first band to play at DECL, where I established a base camp.

The lead singer had a bit of a CSI: Vegas Gil Grissom on vacation vibe.

Everyone was illuminated in purple lights, I guess as a gimmick of the festival, so I didn't edit it down that much, even though I often complain about excessive stage lights making musicians look like Smurfs.

This is about as far as I went with de-Smurfing them.

It really helped that the lead singer looked upward frequently, washing his face in the purer light.

Here's the front of DECL.

I liked the carpet. It was very comfortable. I think the best venue to shoot would have been this one, or maybe the Freemasons basement, although speaking for bands I enjoyed the most and wanted to see the most, it would be a tie between here and River City Revival.
